Here's what one mum said about the breathing she was taught in pregnancy yoga...

"I can't begin to tell how much the breathing techniques learnt in your classes helped me through a very long 42 hour labour! I simply couldn't have done it without them. The breath in for one out for two was a godsend, even the midwives were amazed with how well it worked."

If you have any questions or would like to talk to me about yoga, please call or email me.  My mobile is 07739490143 (if I am teaching, please leave me a message). Alternatively, do email me at nicola@pregnantyogini.com.  Namaste, Nicola

Teaching Yoga in Pregnancy and Beyond...

What I do

I have a passion for yoga and have enjoyed teaching for the past three years in both London and Sheffield.  Every class is a new challenge and I think you'll enjoy the energy that is created in all of my classes.

I believe in the power of yoga and how it can uniquely help everyone at different stages of their lives.  The use of breath, body and mind in unison is a magical and powerful tool, often under-estimated and often under-used.  Yoga helps people to enhance this tool and use it in their daily lives.

I am lucky enough to be able to teach the following;

  • Pregnancy Yoga - for blooming mum's-to-be
  • Post Natal Yoga - for gorgeous mum's with babies
  • Labour Support Classes - for your birthing partner
  • Baby Yoga (including baby massage) - for beautiful babies with mum's
  • Ashtanga Yoga - for all levels from complete beginners to intermediate
  • POPY - for positive older people who enjoy yoga
  • 1-2-1 Classes - for individual to enhance your practice or accommodate special needs
  • Fertility Yoga - please contact me for details

All of the classes that I teach are fun and interactive.  My aim is to make yoga accessible to as many people as possible no matter their age or sex.  (See Yoga tab for further details).

About Me

Ashtanga Yoga Life

I was initially mentored in Sivananda/Ashtanga/Hatha/Iyengar Yoga by Lesley Sheridan and Kamal Paul in South London and formalised my Ashtanga Teacher Training with Brian Cooper and Nawajoyti of Union Yoga, Edinburgh in 2005.  I have been teaching locally for over a year and currently hold classes in S2 (Yoga Shala), S6 (Buddhist Centre, Walkley), S17 (The Ark and Town Hall, Dore), S11 (Devonshire Villas), S32 (Hathersage) and Dronfield.

I also run classes, workshops, 1-2-1's and practice Thai Massage.

I am currently undertaking training for my advanced teaching certificate with Brian Cooper and the UK Yoga Alliance and also the BWY Intergtaion Course.

Pregnancy and Post Natal Yoga Life

Having taught Ashtanga to many women, I was asked time and time again about pregnancy yoga so decided to undertake a specialist training to allow me to teach mum's-to-be.  I was very fortunate to be able to study with the wonderful Uma Dinsmore-Tuli ,of the Sitaram Partnership, at The Life Centre, in North London.  Uma's approach is like no other and focuses on nuturing mothers and teaching them about natural birthing techniques including yogic breathing and relaxation/visualisation techniques for labour.

I am training with Uma this year to gain a further post natal yoga qualification.

Childrens Yoga Life

I have trained with YogaBugs in London to teach young children and currently teach in schools in Sheffield.

POPY

In my endeavour to make yoga accessible to everyone I am fortunate enough to teach yoga to lovely groups of positive older people.  The yoga practice has been specifically formulated to benefit the older persons challenges and is a joy to teach!

1-2-1's

I teach a variety of individuals and design bespoke programmes for each person so that they can gain the maximum benefit from the sessions.  These sessions are held at my studio or in the comfort of your own home.

Thai Massage Life

I decided to train in the art of Thai Massage to use it as a basis for adjusting in my yoga classes, provide tradional massages and to take parts of the massage series and translate it in to useful techniques for my pregnancy, post natal and baby yoga classes.  Thai Massage works on the whole body and is based on simple but effective stretching techniques.  It can be adapted to suit all levels of fitness and flexibility and adds a wonderful element of hands on work in pregnancy, post natal and baby yoga classes!
